Well, I've just gotta tell ya'---my experience with y'all was nothing short of incredible! And let me be perfectly clear, I was MORE than a little skeptical about buying tires on the Internet and THEN getting them installed elsewhere. So, if any of you feel the the way I did, let me put your mind at rest. From the ease of navigating your website, to the 'I'll bend over backwards for you' customer support provided by Crystal, to the excellent, lightning-fast service of the installer I selected (Murray's New & Used Tire Bargains, 1200 S. Saunders St., Raleigh, NC), my tire buying/installation experience couldn't have come off any smoother!!! My order was placed by 11:00 AM and delivered to the installer around 2:00 (same day)! I was under the impression that the installer was going to call me to set up the appointment. Crystal said if I didn't hear from them by 2:00 or 3:00 to give them a call. When I didn't get the call, I buzzed them. Rock, the manager, answered. He told me the tires were there and to come on in, that I didn't need an appointment. When I questioned him again about this, he said, "Lady, I'm going to treat you so good, you're going to think you had an appointment!" And did he ever---one of the first things he did when I arrived, was offer me something to drink! He quickly produced two chilled bottles of water! My husband says we arrived at Murray's around 3:45. The tires were installed, then aligned (at our request), and we were home by 5:30 (and it's about a 30 minute drive to get to their shop)! Now that's FAST!!! Am I ever satisfied? You bet I am! Dear Tire Monkey Staff, I have to make a confession. I have a rare 1987 Toyota Van that takes 205/75R-14 Tires. It is a 4 wheel Drive and I needed New Tires. Since Winter was coming, I wanted Snow Tires. I searched EVERYWHERE both online an in area stores for Highly Recommended FIRESTONE WINTERFORCE tires in my size. I was searching for over a month with no results. Sears, Walmart, BJ's, Sams Club, Tirerack, many others and Even my local Firestone Franchise could NOT get a set for me in that size. EVERYWHERE in the entire country was sold out or Out Of Stock. I knew Tire Monkey was not going to be able to get me a set but I ordered them Anyway, just to be a jerk or sorts. I just want to send you a note to thank your customer support staff for the superb customer service that they delivered. I was notified by a repair shop that they could not locate the tires that I wanted to be installed on my van to replace the ones that were damaged in an accident. The OEMs rode like truck tires, so I was planning to purchase a set of Goodyear’s that I had had good experience with in the past to replace the OEMs after this winter. Two of my tires were damaged in an accident so this gave me the opportunity to make the change out. The shop notified me on Tuesday, 11/16 that they could not locate the tires that I needed through their wholesale distributor network and would have to install the OEM tire if I could not source them and have them delivered to them by Friday, 11/19. I searched the Web and came across your listing. I called your CS number and was greeted by a very pleasant and resourceful young lady. I gave her the make and size that I was looking for, Goodyear Assurance Comfort Tread Touring, P225/65R17, and she located them in a warehouse in Memphis. I said that Goodyear indicated that they were out of stock at their regional warehouses and the size that I needed was on backorder everywhere else that I called. I explained my situation and she said that she would call the warehouse to confirm. When she returned, she said that they were in stock, reserved, and would be pulled for shipment that day and would ship to arrive by the 19th. I received both a confirming email for my order and an eTicket immediately following my call. I called your CS on Wednesday, 11/17 to get a shipping confirmation and was provided the UPS tracking number. Again, my call was greeted by a very pleasant and informative young lady. I later found out that the body shop, Tatman’s Collision Center in Urbana, IL, was also contacted by your CS to confirm the shipping address and to alert them that they were being shipped to arrive by 11/19. The tires were delivered to Tatman’s this morning and everything is on schedule. I did not expect this extra service. What stood out about this experience was the attitude of your CS personnel. Each time I spoke to someone they were very courteous and conveyed a genuine interest in assisting me. What would I do to change my experience with TireMonkey, absolutely NOTHING! I bought a tire from my neighborhood tire shop, I had gotten a thorn in my sidewall, I couldn't afford the same tire I had on my SUV so I purchased a less expensive one with the intention of buying three more my next paycheck. They coudn't produce the three I needed, or anyone in the state. I had to make a decision to buy one tire that matched my existing or go online to find three more like the new one I had bought. TireMonkey came through. I live out west; my tires came from back east. Three days later I had my tires and Fletcher's Tire in Tucson made it right. Here's my story and I'm sticking to it. Recently, I tried to find tires to fit my ' 08 Toyota Highlander Limited. Much to my chagrin, I learned that I and many other owners of the aforementioned vehicle were experiencing the same problem with locating these tires ( P245/55/19 103 S). Long story short: I went on line and tried TireRack - no luck. I contacted Toyo and one of their local dealers,Thomas Tire, in Asheboro, NC - no luck. I even went back to the dealer,Vann York Toyota, in High Point, NC and learned they didn't have them and that their normal distributor ( guess who? - Thomas Tire ) couldn't get them. So back to the Internet where I found a couple of concerns who had them but unfortunately they were on "back order". Then I saw TireMonkey. At first I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical given the moniker so I decided to call your toll free number where I spoke to a delightful young lady, Crystal. I explained my dilemma to her, let me check says she and voila - tires!! From that point everything went great up to and including your invitation via email to comment accordingly. The last chapter is rather interesting -- this morning the folks at Vann York Toyota called to follow up their installation of the tires. It was rather obvious that were anxious to learn how/where I got the tires since they couldn't. Wayne, You asked that I let you know how I made out with my first on-line tire buy. I could use a lot of adjectives but I'll simply say I am totally satisfied and happy with the whole process. I heartily recommend it. I picked tiremonkey.com for a couple reasons. The biggest being that TireMonkey delivers the tires directly to the installer you choose from their list, with a guaranteed installation fee and NO shipping charges. Others send the tires to you and you have to find an installer, carry the tires to them and negotiate the fee. Various sites had various brands at various and similar prices. I ordered and paid on-line early Monday morning. Before noon, TireMonkey called to say the tires would be at Tire Warehouse & Auto Center (41 W Church St, Spring Valley) by noon Wednesday. That's a little longer than the 'typically 24 hours' they say, but it took me longer than that to make up my mind so no complaint from me. By mid-morning Wednesday TW&AC got the tires and said I could come at any time. Not much I can say about the actual process of installation. It's a lot of brrrttt's, fissss's, thumps, whirrrr's and more brrrttt's. But the guys doing the work were all smiling and, I guess, happy in their work. Sandy, the manager, was as pleasant as could be. We told a few 'old guy' stories, had a couple good laughs and I thought 'you'd never get this kind of friendly service at one of the big-box chains'. Using info from TireMonkey and elsewhere I created the attached spreadsheet to analyze which tire I wanted. The Kumho KH16 won out on points and ended up the least expensive also. Sandy confirmed my choice as soon as he saw what I picked. He gave them a Best-Buy rating for my circumstance. He charged the same amount, for installation, no matter which tires I got so I appreciated his opinion. I asked what it would have cost if I would have come direct to him for the same tire? He estimated $12 more per tire plus the sales tax. That would still be about $15 less than the price I got from Mavis. All in all, it was a very good deal and I'd do it again. In fact, I'll probably go to Tire Warehouse for some other service as well. Sorry I got so wordy. You probably didn't need all the details. Be well Cookie
